Questions

Everything people ask us

Including the ones where the honest answer is “it depends on the room” — and the ones where the honest answer is no.

Is the measure and the quote really free?

Yes, both, and neither carries an obligation. You are choosing something you will look at every day for years — you should be allowed to think about it, compare it, and come back to us in three weeks if that is what you need.

Why will you not give me a price over the phone?

Because it would be a guess. Price depends on the exact width and drop, the fabric, the operation and the fitting. A guess that turns out low is worse for you than no number at all, so we measure first and then write it down properly.

Our body corporate has rules about what shows from outside. Can you work with that?

Yes, and it is one of the most common conversations we have. A uniform backing colour and a consistent headbox line across the elevation is standard practice for us in complexes. If your rules are written down, hand them to the consultant at the measure and we will specify to them.

Can you do several units in the same complex at once?

Happily. Repeating window schedules make multi-unit work efficient, and neighbours regularly combine measures onto a single visit. Mention it when we call so we can plan the day.

What actually fixes a west-facing bedroom?

Indoors: blockout roller blinds or aluminium venetians for glare and privacy. Honestly though, indoor fabric is fighting a battle already lost at the glass — if the room truly bakes, stopping the sun outside with a roller shutter or a zip screen does far more. The consultant will tell you which one your room needs rather than which one costs more.

How long does it take?

Everything is made to order, so the lead time depends on the product and the fabric. Your written quote states the timing for your specific order. We would rather give you an accurate date than an optimistic one.

Are the blinds safe around small children?

Every corded or chained blind we fit gets a wall tensioner as standard, which keeps the loop under tension and out of reach. For a nursery we will always show you cordless and motorised options — a motorised blind has no cord at all, which is as safe as it gets.

Can you repair blinds that are already up?

Yes — restringing, tilt mechanisms, brackets, refits after painting or a move, and replacement slats or vanes where they are still available. If a repair is not worth your money, we will say so and quote a replacement instead.

Can existing blinds be motorised?

Often, yes. It depends on the tube diameter, the brackets and the condition of the blind. Send a photograph or let the consultant look on the measure — it is frequently cheaper than replacing the blind.

What is actually in your range?

Roller blinds (blockout, sunscreen and day/night), venetian blinds in aluminium and timber, cellular honeycomb blinds, vertical blinds, panel blinds, shaped and skylight blinds, concealed blind boxes, roller shutters, folding-arm awnings, zip screens and motorisation — plus repairs on blinds already up. If you want something outside that list, we will point you elsewhere rather than pretend.

Are your roller shutters security shutters?

No. Ours are shading shutters — rigid aluminium slats that roll down outside the glass to control sun, heat, glare, light and privacy. Security-rated shutters are a different product built to a different standard, which we can quote separately on request. We will never let you believe one is doing the other’s job.

How do I clean them?

Rollers and verticals take a light vacuum or a wipe with a barely damp cloth. Venetian slats do best with a soft duster run along the slat with the blind tilted closed. Cellular blinds want a gentle vacuum along the pleats. Nothing in the range needs specialist cleaning.
